For those that are interested and unaware I’ve been blogging for Network Computing for about a month on their Private Cloud Tech Center.  You can find those blogs here: http://www.networkcomputing.com/private-cloud-tech-center.  You should see a new one there every week or so.  I will continue to publish content here as regularly as possible and I’m always seeking new contributors for guest posts or regular contributions.  Contact me via the About page if you’re interested.

The Business Suit: Spinach and Kryptonite

September 8, 2011May 18, 2020

For VMworld this year I decided to pack heavy.  I spent the week in suits rather than my typical IT polos and jeans, slacks and shirts type attire.  No particular reasoning for the change although the factors were along the lines of: change of pace, stepping it up, and ‘It’s…

How Emulex Broke Out of the ‘Card Pusher’ Box

July 21, 2010July 21, 2010

A few years back when my primary responsibility was architecting server, blade, SAN, and virtualization solutions for customers I selected the appropriate HBA based on the following rule: Whichever (Qlogic or Emulex) is less expensive today through the server OEM I’m using.  I had no technical or personal preference for…

    Hi Joe,
Here is a recent survey we conducted I thought I would share with you and your readers.

62% of IT Professionals Surveyed Already Have at Least One Private Cloud Project Underway or Plan to Launch in 2011

According to the survey of IT professionals from global 2000 organizations, 34% said that at least one private cloud project has already been launched in their organization, while 28% are planning to implement private cloud infrastructure in 2011.

Click here for the complete details: http://www.evolven.com/blog/private-cloud-initiatives-are-gaining-strong-momentum-io-management-say.html

The global survey was carried out by Evolven during a recent event conducted with Forrester Research, and the findings reflect the enthusiasm by IT Infrastructure and Operations management with the promise of private cloud technology and how it can impact the performance of data center operations.

The surveyed audience included CIOs, IT Directors, Configuration Managers, Release Managers, System Operations Architects, and Change Managers from many Global 2000 organizations.

What private cloud initiatives are underway at your organization? What are some of your challenges?
